An Apple Store situated in Amsterdam's Leidseplein Square recently closed temporarily after the explosion of an iPad's battery. Reports indicate that the explosion was due to an overheated iPad. Three employees of the store suffered minor injuries after inhaling chemical gases from the exploded battery. All the casualties received immediate treatment and are now doing well.

Apple devices use a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is susceptible to overheating and explosion. Apparently, this isn't the first time a battery exploded. Back in 2016 in Australia, an iPhone 7 battery reportedly exploded and destroyed a car in the process. Apple investigated the matter and released a better version of the iPhone 7 in June 2017.
