Samsung Note 9 launch

Samsung an hour ago just unveiled its latest flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It comes with a 6.4 inch Super AMOLED 2960 by 1400 Screen and also an S Pen Stylus. Design wise, it looks extremely similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 sports a Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor, dual AKG Speakers, a 4,000 mAh battery and between 6 or 8GB RAM. Sadly, there is no upgrade to the camera from the previous Samsung Galaxy Note 8 as it comes using the 12-megapixel dual-aperture camera but adding the Intelligent Camera function that can detect what object you are taking a photo of.

Samsung has come out to mention that on the Snapdragon 845 processor, it also comes with the "Water Carbon Cooling System" for a lower temperature when playing processor-intensive games or apps like Fornite which leads to better performance.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 also upgraded the S Pen Stylus but adding in a new Bluetooth function that allows the S Pen to control video playback, also allowing control of the camera for taking selfies and other photos. Samsung is also releasing this feature to developers so they can integrate the S Pen Stylus into their apps by the end of the year.

DeX also works with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 but a big change this time around is that the implementation uses a USB-C to HDMI adapter instead of requiring a dedicated dock.

The Note 9 sports a front-facing iris scanner, a fingerprint scanner, headphone jack and also uses the USB-C port for charging so not much change in this aspect. Although Google has released the Android P (AKA PIE), the Note 9 will be coming out of the box with Android 8.1 till a suitable update for the Android P is suitable.

Samsung Note 9 will set you back by USD 1,000, at the entry model level, sporting 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. This price range is the same as the iPhone X. An upgraded version of the Note 9 comes with 8GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of internal storage and that will set you back by USD 1,300.

Pre-orders in Singapore for the Samsung Note 9 will be starting tomorrow and sets will reach our hands on the 24 August 2018.

A new Samsung Galaxy Watch has also been announced. Looking like a real watch with a circular face and a bezel that acts as a control unit, it has LTE enabled and a much better battery life than any previous Samsung Watch versions. Samsung is claiming that it will last a few days with just one charge.

Following behind the footsteps of the Apple Watch, it comes with features like heart rate monitoring, fitness apps, a breathing guide to calm you down and also Bixby support. It evens tracks your sleeping pattern.

Of course, if you buy so many Samsung gadgets, they have to come up with something for you to charge them with. So, Samsung gladly introduces another new gadget, the AirPower-like Wireless Charger Duo that will allow you to charge the Samsung Watch and your Samsung Galaxy phone at the same time. Now you can charge your Phone and your Samsung Accessories at the same time.

With Amazon Echo, Google Home and Apple HomePod all selling well in the market, Samsung decided to join in the fun with a Bixby-enabled Samsung Galaxy Home. It of course works with Bixby and the speaker is designed to be able to send sound out in any direction.

For all these new gadgets launched, Samsung has also joined forces with Spotify so that you can listen across all your devices ensuring a seamless music experience across all Samsung devices. Spotify will become part of the initial setup process for all Samsung devices moving forward.
