Whitestone Dome claims to be the only Tempered Glass that works on the Samsung Galaxy S10 Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor

【Quoting Whitestone Dome website】

EXCLUSIVE SOLUTION FOR ULTRASONIC FINGERPRINT – Advanced Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive (LOCA) Technology prevents micro spaces in between device and Dome Glass which makes only solution for S10's new ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.

【On Hardwarezone】

There is only one brand of tempered glass screen protector which is certified to work with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S10/S10+. Whitestone Dome claims its tempered glass screen protector is the "exclusive solution" for ultrasonic fingerprint recognition due to its Advanced Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive (LOCA) technology which prevents microspaces in between the device and the Dome Glass. Whitestone Dome is also a partner for Samsung Mobile Accessory Partnership Program.

You can try other tempered glass screen protectors, but they are not guaranteed to work properly. You can also go for plastic screen protectors as they are confirmed to work perfectly with the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Samsung already has one pre-installed on each Galaxy S10 model.

【Does it really work with the Samsung S10 Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor?】

We have seen many videos from YouTubers that shows that it works but right after the Samsung Galaxy S10 was launched, the reviews from actual users proved otherwised.

We have complied some Whitestone Dome S10 Screen Protector Product reviews and discussions on various forums for your viewing pleasure.

Before you get the Samsung Galaxy S10 Screen Protector Glass, it would be best to read through the reviews before deciding on setting aside almost USD 70 for this protector.

Got my S10+ early and just installed this. Installation was def a pain but got it on first attempt. So far, I'll say that it does, indeed, work, however it requires significantly more force to scan fingerprint. I'll update the review of my opinion changes with more use. Definitely wish they'd clarify how much effort it will take after this screen protector is applied!

Update - I have found it works a bit better with the normal sensitivity option, not the one for screen protector sensitivity increase. Also, mine appears to be peeling on top edge. It's weird looking little fracture lines. Phone hasn't been roughed up at all.

Update 2: Even with sensitivity option disabled, I can still rarely get fingerprint authenticated on first try. Gonna send this back and use a Zagg or something else, trusting the gorilla glass 6 not to crack. Weighing the pros and cons, this screen protector creates too much of a slowdown in daily use to be worth the possible protection.

Applied screen protector as directed, had no bubbling issue or anything of the sort. Tried to add a new fingerprint after the last 30-60 seconds of curing process and it would NOT read any of my fingerprints no matter how hard or soft i pressed. Save your money and get a normal protector thats guaranteed to work! Complete waste of money!!!

It is a nice product but my finger print won't work with the glass guard.

DONT BUY!! The sole purpose I bought this was because it supposedly worked with the new S10 fingerprint scanner. DOES NOT WORK WITH S10 FINGERPRINT SCANNER.

As soon as I put the glass, and registered my fingerprints again, 4 out of 10 times the on screen finger scanner works. Majority of the time they don't seem to recognize my fingerprint.

Finger print sensor did not work for my wife, mother in law, or father law... everytime the phone would tell them to press harder... my wife was using two hands to try and press her thumb down hard enough and it still said "press harder" - I just submitted mine for return, it sort of worked for me but the same press issue just makes this an unusable product... if I didn't have an onscreen finger print sensor though, this was definitely the best and most beautiful to install protector I've ever seen... too bad it doesn't work

The ultrasonic fingerprint reader fails to read fingerprints after installation on the dome glass. Other than that it is good.

I recently purchased this for my Galaxy S10+. I had purchased my S9+ used and it had it already installed on it and I thought it was great. Due to the ultrasonic finger print sensor this is the only screen you can put on the phone. Now, I didn't try the fingerprint unlock before applying the screen, and it's slow to unlock. I'm not sure if it's due to the screen protector or the fact that it's new tech and doesn't work all that great. The reason I put it on right away is I figured it would have the least amount of dust that way. Go on YouTube and watch the videos on how to do it, it's much better then trying to follow the directions they give. I used exam gloves when applying the screen as to not get any fingerprints or dust on anything. I was so afraid of messing it up because let's face it, it's not cheap, but it came out flawless and you can't even tell there's a screen over the original. I don't think I'd use any other screen protector at this point. On a $1000 phone, it's definitely worth the money.

Update: I keep re registering my prints and it still doesn't work to open it right away. After reading the comments I realize it's not the software. I want the protection for my screen and in that aspect it's great, but it kills the functionality of it. Debating on if I'm going to pull it off and return.

Whitestone's S8 screen protector has been on my S8 for 2 years now and I am extremely satisfied with it. When I preordered my S10+, the first accessory I bought was Whitestone's S10+ protector. All I can say is that I am disappointed.

First of all, the fingerprinter sensor "works", depending on your definition of "works". I re-registered my fingerprints after installing the screen protector. Fingerprint registration with the screen protector on is MUCH slower/less accurate when compared to without a screen protector. Actual success rate was less than 30% for me. I tried re-re-registering my fingerprints and still got the same issue. The actual success rate is simply way too low for practical everyday use and effectively removes the fingerprint sensor functionality as 5 incorrect attempts will block fingerprint unlocking. My phone is on the latest software update that includes the fingerprint sensor functionality update.

My second issue is with the installation kit itself. I bought the two pack. The installation kit is only good for 1 "clean" installation. The white glue soakers on the side of the top tray will block the glass screen protector from properly falling on your second installation.

tl;dr
This protector might protect your phone from drops (my S8's whitestone protector did), but it effectively removes the fingerprint sensor functionality.

I was looking forward to the fingerprint reader returning to the front of the phone and had been putting off getting a new phone until Samsung was able to get it right. I received my S10 Plus yesterday and was able to quickly and easily store my prints on the phone and had no problems unlocking it using them.

I received my Dome Glass today and installed it on my phone according to the instructions in the video on the Whitestone website. The installation process went smoothly and was relatively easy. Unfortunately, it doesn't work well with the ultrasonic reader. Before applying the screen protector it took less than a minute (per fingerprint) to scan and store my biometric data, after applying the protector it took 4-5 minutes to scan a single print. After re-scanning my prints, the print reader was unable to recognize my prints and I kept getting locked out of my phone.

This looks like its a great product and I would recommend it to people whose phones don't have an ultrasonic fingerprint reader...unfortunately, I will be returning mine.

Installed this screen according to the instructions. Now the fingerprint sensor keep stating you need to cover the sensor when I try to add another finger print.

Whitestone was the best when it came to screen protectors, but recently with the note 9 and this the quality has dropped. Right out of the box my screen protector has light scratches. I forgave this as it was bound to happen. After less than 24 hours the glue already has started spidering. I have put these on multiple phones including pixel 2, lg g7, iPhone X, s8+, note8 and note 9. The only other time I have seen this was on the note 9. This is not good because these do not run cheap, and the warranty is not valid on the S10+ yet. I recommend staying away from these until quality is either brought up, or they fix the glue issue.

I read the instructions thoroughly and even went as far as to watch youtube videos of installations of this screen protector on similar phones and then I installed the screen protector as instructed. There was no dirt or any other contaminants on the screen when I installed the screen protectors and i used the UV light as directed. It looked like i installed it perfectly and everything seemed fine. Then I went to re-register my fingerprint and it would not register my fingerprint. I kept receiving a "Press a little harder" prompt. I thought that this screen protector would work with the in screen fingerprint reader but it seems as that is not the case for me. It is unfortunate because this was an expensive screen protector. Apart from that after a couple of hours the bottom right corner and top left of the screen protector developed a bunch of small air bubbles. If i would have known that this would be the outcome I would have stayed with the pre-installed screen protector that came with the phone and waited for another tempered glass screen protector.

I received my Samsung galaxy S10+ today and before even turning it on I installed the screen protector. They say this is the only tempered glass screen protector compatible with the in-screen fingerprint. But I am still having very hard time using my fingerprints to unlock the phone. It usually take 4 attempts to unlock. Even though my fingerprints are very clear and I have never had any problems using the the S9 and other previous versions of Samsung.

Whitestone Dome Screen Protector Problems..

Quote:

Hi, we are sorry to inform you that we have discovered that about 30% of the Whitestone Dome Glass may not work with the Ultrasonic Fingerprint reader. As there is currently no known solution for the 30% devices with this issue, if you chose to proceed with the installation, we will only provide warranty coverage for issues arising from installation(bubbles or dust in screen).

Should you prefer not to go ahead with the installation, we will proceed with a refund to your account within the week. Please kindly indicate the bank name, account name and number for us to make the transfer.

Our sincere apologies for this unforeseen issue and the inconvenience caused.

Just to repeat my experience as mentioned in the accessories thread, I too have issues with whitestone. The first piece completely can not detect any fingerprint and phone kept asking to press harder. The shop was kind enough to replace a second piece after which success rate with the fingerprint sensor is like less than 30% even after re registration and screen sensitivity on. I hope whitestone has a solution soon.

Guys I faced problem initially but got it to work now..

When registering the fingerprint..please dont rotate your finger..just register in the same position

There is a technique to unlock the phone..ensure you add a little pressure and it will unlock.

U try again after restart your phone. Does it still work?

And its still rather unreliable for me. Previously without wsd my success rate is 90%. Now trying your method and its abt 50%. Still unsatisfied with WSD this time round.

Just an update, i have just applied during my dinner outside.

I only cured for like 30s and then tried. It worked the first time but subsequently all fail. So while eating, i proceeded to cured more (evenly) over my dinner of 15 mins. Once i left, i still only managed to do once then kept failing. Remapped the FP and still fail. So i waited till i reach home to cure more.

Once reached home, i tried again and somehow it works for like 15/15. lol. Then i decided to cure just the FP part for now. But after like 5 mins, fail again. ahaha. Maybe once it starts to work again, i wun cure anymore liao.

Ah so I'm not alone... I applied on Saturday afternoon by myself (and yeah it's from qoo10), and I had to press very hard to re-register. Even so, fingerprint unlock is almost always unsuccessful, I think I only had two or three successful attempts re-verifying for Samsung Pay out of the many many times.

I FB messaged Whitestone Singapore, and they suggested I should just wait awhile for the glue to settle down... The thing is, I also didn't cure for a long time, as the instructions seem to say a total of 75 seconds for top/bottom, but it seems like most of you spent more than five minutes to do so... should I attempt to re-cure it? Or just see if it gets better tomorrow?

it's the same issue elsewhere for the whitestone dome installed on s10/s10+..

interestingly, the loca supplied for s10/10+ is different from other phone models.., hence beware of local retailers who actually repack the product (i have seen 2 so far)..

see whitestone's reply to amazon customers here:
